for from the State of South Dakota, and to all Senator members of the Committee of. Agriculture and
Forestry of the United States Senate.
Upon permission being given "'r.Daly addressed the Council relative to the merits of the sa
resolution and it was moved by Counoilman'Smith and seconded by Councilman Miller that the said
resolution be adopted. Motion declared carried.
UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
Remarks about Building Ordinances
City Attorney Scott spoke about the proposed building ordinance and advised the Council
that several additions and changes would be necessary before the ordinance cemboup for final
.disposal.
Garbage Bide:
This being the time set for opening bids for the collection and disposal of garbage the
following bids submitted were opened and read, as follows:

Port Townsend, Wash.
Hon. Mayor and City Council
Port Townsend, Washington
Dear Sire:
I will agree to haul the rubbish and garbage of the City of Port Townsend accordit
to the city ordinances No. 772 and amended by the Ordinance of No. 906.
I will haul garbage on the beach so the tide will carry it out so as to make the
surroundings as sanitary as possible. For which privilege I will pay $25.00.

From F. H. Lammers, to -wit:

In accordance with the call for proposals for the privilege of hauling and disposing of all
garbage and rubbish within the City limits of Port Townsend for the ensuing year the undersigned
agrees to pay $60.00 and the care.and maintainance of garbage Dump shall be at bidders expense.

After some discussion it was moved by Councilman Miller and seconded by Councilman Aldrich
that the bid by F. H. Lammers be accepted. Upon roll call Councilmen Miller, Aldrich, Ikiohards
voted in the affirmative. Councilman Smith voted in the negative and Councilman Lammers was ex-
oused:: from voting. Motion declared carried.
Garbage Contract and Bond:
It was then moved by Councilman Aldrich and seconded by Councilman Miller that the Mayor
and City Clerk be authorized to enter into a contract with the said F. H. Lammers for removal of
garbage and the bidder be required to furnish a bond in the sum of $100.00. Upon roll call all
five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
Gasoline Bids:
In accordance with previous order of the City Council calling for bids for gasoline and
lubricating oils proposals to furnish gasoline and oils as submitted by Martin Bros. for the Rich-
field Oil Company, The Standard Oil Company and the Union Oil Company were now opened and read. The
said bids were refered to the Finance Committee with instructions to report on same at the next
regular meeting.
To Confirm the Budget:
In relation to the wages to be paid by the City for the ensuing year, the following motion
was made by Councilnan Smith and seconded by Councilman Miller, to -wit:
To Confirm the Budget, I move that the wages for common labor for all Departments of the
City, be $4.00 per day; That for other classes of labor the wages be in proportion to the services

rendered within the limit set by the budget: The wages of the regular truck dtiver, Street Depart-
ment, to be $110.00 per Month; The wages for the additional driver for the Fire Department to be
$110.00; The wages of the Clerk in the Water Department to be'$80.00 per Month, and the salary of
the City Engineer to be paid in equal sums from the Gurrent Expense Fund and the Olympic Gravity
Water Fund.
Upon roll call all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was de-
clared carried.
IRONDALE AND HADLOCK

Mr. Green, Superintendent of'the Water. Department, now stated to the. Council that the
4, water main supplying Irondale and Hadlock appeared to be frozen and recommended that consumers in
that neighborhood be granted some reduction. No action was -taken on the matter.
ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Councilman Aldrich and seconded by Councilmen Smith that the Council
adjourn. Motion carried and Council adjourned.
