Gentlemen: Permission is requested to repair the building ocoupied.by the Coast Service Co. Corner Adams and Water Streets, where damaged by fire and to re-arregge the walls to enclose about 140 sq. ft. of floor space now built as part of the original building. Sheet metal will be used for repair of the roof, the present wooden partitions to be replaced with corrugated iron oonstruction, cost not to exceed $L65.00. Respectfully submitted, H. E. Gleason k Upon permission of the council, Mr. Gleason described the character of the work to be done and after some discussion, the application was referred to the Building Insspector and Building Committee. COMMUNICATIONS From Tacoma Electrochemical Company, to -wit: ' 1 A communication relative to contract for liquid chlorine was presented and read, as follows: Tsooma, Wash., January 27, 1930 Mr. Ben Green, Water Superintendent, City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, 'Washington zp My dear Mr. Green: Kindly pardon the delay in replying to your.letter of January 6th. 9( As suggested, we are sending contracts herewith in duplicate covering your Chlorine requirements over the period July 1st, 1930 to July 1st, 1931. You will note that we are making the price the same as now prevailing, namely 8 314X per pound, f.o.b. Port Townsend, allowing j; 3 empty containers to be returned to us transportation charges "collect". We are glad to have your note of appreciation of the service we have tried to y render over the past year. While we have done nothing more than you are rightfully entitled to, a !` little work of appreciation is always welcome. i We trust that you will put our contract before your City Council and if approved, kindly have both copies executed, retaining the original for your files and returning the duplicate for our records. Upon roll call, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative, and motion was (' adeclared carried. _ Ordinance No. 9911 The following is a full true and correct copy of Ordinance No. 991, as passed by the City Council January 28th, 1930, approved by the Mayor January 28th, 1930; and published in the Port Townsend Leader January 30th, 1930, to -wit: ORDINANCE NO. 991 f± " AN ORDINANCE of the'City of Port Townsend providing For the appropriation of money for "'Yi°' the construction of lateral sewers on 'dater Street from Tyler Street to Harrison Street in said city, estimating the expenditure for the construction of same and providing an'emergency. 'n}y�ri WHEREAS, at the present time, there are iuduffioient lateral sewers running from the mai trunk sewer on Water Street to serve the present and future needs of the'abutting property on Water Street between the west line of'Tyler Street and the east line of Harrison Street, and, WHEREAS, the Highway Department of the State of Washington contemplates the immediate paving with concrete of a portion of said Water Street from Walker Street to Tyler Street, and, WHEREAS, before such street paving is completed it is imperative that certain abutting :�. x P g P P g property on said Water Street be connected with lateral sewers, and, t7N T Y , WHEREAS, within the limited time it is impossible for the City of Port Townsend to provide for the payment of the construction of such lateral sewers by any method other than by the expenditure of money from the Current Expense fund of said city at an amount estimated by the City k�,b�'ti jk g ` Engineer at the sum of 41696.00 according to his plane and specifications now on file with the City g ?r �� ' Council, and, �'a WHEREAS, there are at present no funds available in said fund in the budget for the ear 1930, and, WHEREAS, such deficiency, or the reason therefor, could not have been reasonably foresee Y t the time of the making and adoption of such budget, and ? ;; i�kt WHEREAS, an emergency now exists for the appropriation and expenditure of the foregoing sum of money for the purposes aforesaid, therefore, The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, do ordain as follows: u} z'ri+dx Section 1.
