J. Smith It was moved by Uouneilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Miller that said appl cations be granted. Motion declared carried. From E. M. Starrett, to -wit: October 1st, 1929. Honorable Uity Council, Port Townsend, ��ashington Gentlemen: Y!e are urging the establishment of a standard aerial light beacon at Port Townsend on Seattle -Victoria mail route. We have begun the development of a fine land and seaplane base at Port Townsend. The installation of such a beccon, redognizing the importance of the route, the services now flying over it, and the future needs, will do much to inspire our port and county boards to go far in the plans now under way. We want to have the Point Hudson airport ready for international use in early 1930. her already been approved by many airfield experts. The establishment of a United States lights beacon will be another step. 1. What support and action can you take or advise to aid us in our action, 2. How strongly will you recommend that the U. b. Department of Commerce aviation navigation agents, U. S. For city Clerk's Department, to -wit:' 31 typewriter ribbon It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Lammers that said requisi- tion be granted. Motion carried. UNFINISHED AND NU; BUSINESS House for ,green Chamber: Councilman Robbins brought up the matter of housing the screen chamber at the city lake stating that he had met Mr. Lowenstein, and that the Paper company would not proceed with the con- struction until after tonights meeting of the council. After some discussion it was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the City Engineer be instructed to make plans and specifications, and to proceed at once with the construction of the screen chamber, and that corrugated iron construction be reco:mmended, said construction to be made at the lowest possible cost. Upon roll calls all four councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Leaks on Ulallam Street: Councilman Robbins brought up the matter of purported damage to property from water leakage and moved, seconded by councilman Lammers, that the City Engineer be instruction to investi- gate leaks in the water pipe with the water superintendent, and that action be taken at once to stop the leaks on Clallam Street. Notion declared carried. To Purchase gravel deposit: Councilman Robbins brought up the matter of securing a deposit of gravel in the Pettygro Park Addition belonging to the county and recommended that action be taken to secure this deposit this year, as no provision had been made in the budget for 1930. It was then moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Jmith that the city clerk be instructed to make application for the purchase of lots 5,6,7 and 8 in Block 6 of Pettygrove Park Addition, and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants on the Current Expense'Fund for the amount of the guaren- teed deposit. Upon roll call, all four councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. General Reports: Councilman Lammers, chairman of the Building Committee, reported good progress' on the fi around the City Hall. Councilman Smith, chairman of the Harbor and Health Committee, reported that by using a city prisoner to do the work, he was having the city garbage dump properly cleaned up.
