Suction Pipe for Reservoirs:
The following report was submitted by the city Engineer:
October 7, 1929
To the Mayor and Uity Council
Gentlemen:
I herewith submit sketch and estimate of the cost of a permanent suction pipe for the
Fire Department pumper, at Reservoir 42, 'organ Hill.
The cost of a 5" Galvanized Iron pipe with suction strainer and 6# standard hydrant
cap, with concrete blocks, etc., installed is 485.00. A 4" Galvanized iron pipe with same equipment
is 440.00. `his i:ould allow engine to connect up outside of fence and allow a draft of 4'-6" of
water from the reservoir or a total lift for the pump of approximately 7'-0".
I could probably lessen the cost of the work a few dollars by providing a cap on the
end of the pipe and having some 1" holes drilled in cap and pipe in place of the strainer as shown
on sketch.
Yours very truly,
". J. Sadler
City Engineer
It was moved by Uouncilman bobbins and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the Uity
Engineer be authorized and instructed to have a 5" suction pipe installed at the city reservoir for
fire protection purposes. Upon roll call, all four councilmen present, namely, Councilmen smith,
Lammers, Miller and Robbins, voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. .
