MINUTES OF STATUTORY SPECIAL SESSION FOR CONSIDERATION OF FINAL BUDGET FOR 1930
Port Townsend, Washington, October 7, 192
The City Council of the city of Port Townsend met in special statutory session for
consideration of the final budget this 7th day of October, 1929s at 7:30 P. M. in the counoiliohambe
of the city hall, Mayor Bangerter presiding.

CONSIDERATION OF BUDGET

session would be devoted to consideration and adoption of the final budget for the year 1930. The
City Clerk thereupon read a cmpy of the official notice of the budjet hearing, as follows:
CITY BUDGET NOTICE
Notice is hereby given thnt the Mayor has completed and placed on file the Preliminar
Budget of the City of Port 'Townsend for the ensuing fixcal year (1930), a copy of which will be fur-
nished any taxpayer who will call at the City Clerk's office therefor, and that the City. Council of
said city will meet at 7:30 o'clock P. M. on Monday, October 7th, 19299 in the council chambers of t

city hall for the purpose of fixing the final budget and making the tax levies, and that any taxpaye
may appear thereat and be heard for or against any part of said budget.

RECESS
It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Peach to recede for a
while for an informan consideration of the budget. Motion carried.
COUNCIL RECONVENES
The Mayor called the council to order again at 9:40 P. M. and upon roll call there
were present Mayor George Bangerter, City Clerk C. F. Christian, Acting City Attorney W. J. Daly, Jr.
and Councilmen Aldrich, Peach, Smith, Quenell, Lammers, Miller and Robbins.
CONSIDERATION OF BUDGET
The Mayor announced that the order of business nae the final consideration and adopt-
ion of the budget for the year 1930.
The budgets for the year 1930 were then considered item by item and under the depart-•
ment of the Mayor's Office, it was moved by Councilman Robbine, seconded by Councilman Peach, that th
items as classified for the Mayor's Office, to -wit: Clerical Services $100.00, Traveling Expense,
$150.00, as read by the Clark, be adopted as read. Upon roll call, Councilmen Peach, Smith, Lammers
and Robbins voted'in the affirmative. Councilmen Aldrich and Miller voted in the negative, and coun-
cilman Quenell was excused from voting. Motion declared carried.
Under the heading of "Mayor. and City Council", it was moved by Councilman Quenell,
seconded by Councilman Aldrich that the item "Sundries and Incidentals" under the budget item "Mayor
and City Council", be reduced to the sum of 4100.00. Upon roll call, Councilmen Aldrich, Quenell and
Miller voted in the affirmative, and Councilmen Peach, Jmith, Lammers and Robbins in the negative, an
motion was declared lost.
Request by 4uenell:
Councilman Quenell thereupon asked leave of the Yhyor for the extention in the Clerk's
minutes of certain remarks with reference to items classified under the budget for the 14ayor's office
and subsequently said: "With all respedt to the Mayor and City Council, I am not in favor of the in-
crease of any items other than those allowod under what we took our offices for."
Further consideration of Budget:
The remainder of the budget for the Current Expense Fund was then considered item by
item and it was moved by Councilman Peach, seconded by Councilman Lammers that each remaining item of
the budget for the Current Expense Fund, having been read by the Clerk and considered separately, be
adopted as read. Upon roll call, all seven councilmen voted in the affirmative, and motion was de-
clared carried.

Adoption of Current Expense Budget:
It was thereupon moved by Councilman Peach, seconded by Councilman Robbins that the bud-
get for the Current Expense Fund for the year,1930, as itemized and classified, be now adopted. Upo

roll call, Councilman Peach, Smith, Lammers, Miller and Robbins voted in the affirmative. Council-
men Aldrich and Quenell were excused from voting, and motion was declared carried.
Public Library Fund:

The budget for the Public Library.was next considered item by item, and it was moved by
Councilman Robbins, seconded by Councilman Smith, that the items of the budget for the Public Librar
Fund, as read by the Clerk and considered separately, be now adopted. Upon roll call, all seven
councilmen voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried.
Park Fund:

The Park Fund.Budget was next considered, and it was moved by Councilman Robbins, sec-
onded by Councilman Lammers that the adoption of the budget for the Park Fund, as read by the Clerk
and considered separately, be now adopted. Upon roll call, all seven councilmen voted in the affirm
ative, and motion was declared carried.
Interest and Bond Redemption:
The separate items in the budget for interest and bond redemption were next considered,
and it was moved by Councilman Quenell, seconded by Councilman Robbins, that the proposed expenditur

for Interest and Redemption of principal under the general class, "Interest and Bond Redemption", be
now adopted. Upon roll call, all seven councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion was declared
carried.
Water Department Budget:
The budget for the Olympic Gravity hater Works System was next considered item by item,
and it was moved by Councilman Quenell, seconded by Councilman Lammers that the items of the budget
for the Olympic Gravity Water Works System, as read by the Clerk and considered separately, be now
adopted. Upon roll call, all seven councilmen voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared
carried.
