If you will advise us of your final choice, we will be glad to prepare this specifica- tions. ..Under date of July 2nd, we submitted to you our voucher for progress payment under our agreement which was not approved pending the measurement of the flow in.the pipe line. Since meters have now been installed and the pipe line carries more than the guaranteed quantities, we trust there is no further occasion for holding up payment and we will thank you if you authorize that a warrant be issued us in the amount of the voucher. From Citizens of Maynard: A communication from citizens of Maynard and vicinity was presented and read as follows: Maynard, Washington, September 28, 1929 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Port lo:msend, Washing and to the Volunteer Fire Department of said City: We, the undersigned residents of Maynard and vicinity wish to express our tha: for the assistance rendered in,protecting and saving property on the night of the destruction of Hotel Maynard by fire, to -writ: Shingle mill, dry kiln, oil station, several dwellings and a•stand of second - growth timber bordering Maynard on the west. County Fire Warden Fire Chief Lafferty Speaks: The mayor now called upon Fire Chief Lafferty, who stated that there had been some criticism because the fire department had taken the fire engine to the Maynard fire, and asked for instructions as to what to do in the future in case of fire outside of the city limits. Council man Robbins stated that, contraty to the opinion of certain people, the city was not left without fire protection, as the old truck, the regular driver, and arnumber of the members of the fire de- partment were at the city hall and available at all times. Motion to appoint Lafferty: It was moved by councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Peach that the Mayor be requested to appoint Mr. J. J. Lafferty permanent fire chief during the term of lease of th new fire engine, and to have absolute authority to handle the said fire engine in any immergency. The mayor declared the said motion out of order, inasmuch,as he could not legally make an appointmer to run past his oym term of office. Vote of Thanks: It was moved by Councilman Quenell and seconded by Councilman Robbins that the fire chief and the fire department be given a rising vote of thanks for their action in relation to the recent fire at Maynard. Motion was declared carried unanimously. Bill of Bear and Cunningham to be paid: Again taking up the matter of the bill of Baer and Cunningham, it was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Smith that the deferred bill of Baer and Cunningham in the amount of 4931.90 be paid. Upon roll call, councilman Aldrich was excused from voting. he re- maining, councilmen all voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried. Sept. 24, 1929 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington, Gentlemen: Whereas the city of Port Townsend now owns all lots and blocks within the Municipal Golf Course, and in order to definitely establish the property lines, we respectfully petition your honorable body to take the,propersteps to vacate the following sections of platted streets within said area, none of which have -ever been open for vehicles; Decatur, Kearney, Gaines and � Van Streets, from the North side of Blaine rtav Street, to the North side of an Ness Street; Van Ness street from the West side of I•ialker to the east said bf Thayer Streets; E.
