Acceptance Tests - New Fire Engine: A copy of report of.tests made of the new Luck Fire Engine made by the Washington Sur- veying and Rating Company was presented at this time. The report showed a very,exhaustive test, the concluding paragraph being as follows: CONCLUSION The pumper completed all tests in.a satisfactory manner without interruption, fulfill- ing all requirements as to capacities and pressures guaranteed by the manufacturer and may be accepto as a 1,000 gallon pumper. Said application was referred to the Harbor and Health Committee, the Street Committee the City Attorney, and the City rngineer. q; f uL { 1x"�Y"`µi l{��efo��At �• � I .}+h�3741�11.a6RA•".:4.p'. �di!}GT1� ��' ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS Resolution to secure fire engine: -339 A resolution relative to securing fire fighting equipment was presented and read as follows: RESOLUTION "WHEREAS, the entire fire fighting equipment and apparatus which the City of Port Townsend now has at its command is totally out of date, entirely insufficient and wholly inadequate for the protection of our City against the hazards of loss and destruction by fire, and WHEREAS, by reason of said facts the Fire Insurance Underwriters are about tb.. greatly increase the rates on fire insurance in our City unless adequate fire fighting equipment and apparatus is obtained immediately, and, WHEREAS, it is gen orally agreed by all parties concerned that it is absolutely necessary in order to adequately protect our City Against the hazards of lose and destruction by fir that the City at once acquire a 1,000 gallon capacity triple combination pumping engine and hose wagon equipped with 200 gallonnwater booster tank and 1,000 feet of two and one-half inch hose, and, WHEREAS, by reason of the matters and things above set forth, it is apparent that our City is confronted with a presently existing emergency, endangering its very existence as a municipality; and, 'NHEREAS, the members of the City Council have thoroughly canvassed the situation an have.made a complete study of the same, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the "ity Council of the City of Port 'Townsend, in regular session assembled: 1. That the entire fire fighting equipment and apparatus which the city of Port Townsend now has at its command is totally out of date, entirely insufficient and wholly inadequate for the protection of said City against the hazards of loss and destruction by fire; 2. That by reason of the total inadequacy of said fire fighting apparatus and equipment an emergency situation is presently existing endangering the very existence of the City of Port Townsend, as a municipal corporation; 3. That it is absolutely necessary in order to protect said City against the hazards of loss and destruction by fire, that the City at once acquire a 1,000 gallon capacity triple combination pumping engine and hose wagon, equipped with 200 gallon water booster tank and 1,000 foot of two and one-half inch hose; 4. That immediate action be taken in the promises and that the City immediately acquire the necessary apparatus and equipment hereinabove referred to." It was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman Robbins that the foregoing resolution be adopted. Upon roll call, all five councilmen present, namely: Robbins, Peach, Smith, Lammers and Diller, voted in the affirmative, and motion was declared carried. Agreement of Lease: An agreement to lease a Mack Fire Engine was next presented and read, as follows: AGREEMENT OF LEASE THIS AGREEMENT Made and entered into this 17 day of September, 1929, by and between HACK -INTERNATIONAL MOTOR TRUCK CORPORATION, hereinafter called the Lessor, and the City of Port Townsend, Washington, hereinafter called the Less, WITNESSETH: WHEREAS, the intire fire fighting apparatus and equipment which the Lessee now has at its command is totally out of date, entirely insufficient and wholly inadequate for the protection o said municipality against loss and destruction by fire, and, ¢:IIEREAS, It is absolutely necessary in order to adequately protect the Lessee against the hazards of loss and destruction by fire, and to provide for the proper extinguishment thereof, that the lessee at once acquire a one thousand (1,000) gallon capacity triple combination pumping engine and hose wagon, equipped with two hundred 1200 gallon water booster tank and one thousand (1,000) feet of two and one-half inch (22") hose, and, INHEREAS, by reason of said facts an emergency is presently existing, which situation has by resolution been recognized by the Lessee's City Council and by the residents of the lessoe generally, and, WHEREAS, the lessor is willing to assist the lessee in meeting said emergency situatio by immediately delivering to the lessee the equipment and apparatus necessary to enable it to ade- quately cope with the existing fire hazard, and to continue secure in its corporate existence, pro- viding the lessee will lease said apparatus and equipment for a period commencing on the date of thi lease agreement and ending on the 31st day of December, 1932, at the agreed rental of FIFTEEN THOUSA EIGHT HUNDRED THIRTY NINE AND N01100 DOLLARS ($15,839.00), which sum is agreed to be a fair and reasonable rental price for said equipment for said period, and,
