Dear Sir: In a000rdanow with your -requests I herewith submit, in duplicate, a"statement of cost of operation and maintenance of the Big kuiloene River Water-Projeot covering the period from the date the City took over that part of the Project known as "Contract Nos l", to August let. This statement is made up from bills and statements submitted and approved, either bb$, Mr. G. A. Rose or Mr. J. 0. Bear. In making up the statement, all items that were clearly chargeable to construction costs were eliminated. In some instances, however, it was difficult to determine the exact use and purpose of the items charged and it may be necessary, upon a olose -inbpeotion, to eliminate other items. ,I beg to remain, Very, truly yours, C. Christian" City Clerk• The total of said statement amounted to $8734.44. Mr. Schoenwerk, in reply to the above statement, checked off a number of items which they did not consider operation and maintenance and t: which they objected in the total amount of $2580.23. The City Ulerk stated that said items apparent] a part of the operation and.maintenance, and it was.moved by Councilman Quenall and seconded by Councilman Robbins that the City Clerk and City"Engineer send a revised bill with the necessary ex- planations. Motion carried. REQUISITIONS Requisitions for supplies were presented, read and disposed of as follows: For the engineering department, to-wit- 2 - Letter Files. 6 - Scratch Pads It was moved by Councilman Quenell and seconded by Councilman Peach that the request be granted. Motion declared carried. For the Fire Department, to -wit:. 2 Rolls Fire Alarm 'Kira Approx. $80.00 It was moved by Councilman Peach and Seconded by Councilman Robbins that the request be granted. Upon roll call, all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declare carried. For the City Hall, to -wit: 6 Cords Wood, Live, Sound, old growth Fir I Broom Roy Seavey It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Peach that the request be granted and that the city clerk be instructed to advertize for the said six cords of wood. Upon roll call, all six councilman present voted in favor thereof and motion was�deolared carried. For the City Clerk's Department, to -wit: 500 sheets typewriter paper - plain Upon motion of oouncilman Robbins, seconded by Councilman Peach, the said requisition was granted. For the Park Department, to -wit: 3Q lbs Rope $.95 0. K. Joe Kirkpatrick It was moved by Councilman 4uenell and seconded by Councilman Robbins that the requisition be granted. Motion carried. u n 317 ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS Emergency Ordinance: The emergency ordinance introduced and read for the first reading at the previous session of the council and entitled "AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend providing for the appropriation of money and estimating the. same, itemizing and classifying the expenditures and de- claring an emergency" was read in full for the second reading. No objection to the said ordinance being offerred, it was moved by councilman 4uenell and seconded by Councilman Peach that the third reading be by title only. "Upon roll Call, all six councilmen present voted in favor thereof and motion was declared carried. Adoption of Ordinance: The City Clerk then read the said ordinance by title only for the third reading and it was moved by Councilman Lammers, seconded by Oouncilman Robbins that the said ordinance do now pass. Upon roll call. -all six Councilman present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. The following is a full, true and correct Copy of said ordinance No. 979 as passed by the city council August 20th, 1929, approved by the Mayor Jtugust 20th, 1929 and published in the Port Townsend Leader August.22nd, 1929: WHEREAS,..it now appears to the City Counoil'of the City, of Port,Townsend'that the Con- tinuous operation of, the Pity'a business in all departments shall require the expenditure of money not provided for, in the budget for the year.1929, and, WHEREAS, such deficiency and the conditions and circumstances which require the expen- diture of additional money could not have been reasonably foreseen at the time of the adoption of said budget, and, WHEREAS, an emergency now exists for the expenditure of approximately the sum of $660.00 upon the Current Expense fund of said City, therefore, The City Counoil of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, do ordain as follows: .Section 1. - That an emergenoytia hereby declared for•the appropriation of the sum of $650.00 as estimated and hereinafter itemized and,olassified as follows: For the City Clerk's Office:' Salaries and wages - clerk hire .............................. $200.00 For Volunteer Fire Department: Payment of members for -services -at fires .....: . ...::.'.'�:..:.:. 300.00 Incidental.expenses...................................... 100.00 " For.
