Gentlemen: - The National Paper Products desired to assure itself that the City of Port Townsend has acquired clear title to the right of way for a pipe line by which the oompany and the city receive their water. There have been heretofore submitted to us certain evidences of title showing that the city has acquired a right of way for a portion of the pipe line from certain grantors. We have no assurance that the grantors had hood title to the property which they attempt to grant Do you issue, upon request, certificates to the effect that title to a designated piece of property is in a named individual? In other words, do you render any service whereby you could assure us that the City of Port T oxnsend, or its grantors, has or had title to the pipe line in question. Dear Sir: - Since our conversation in our office on May 24th, I have made inquiries regarding the party who should bear the expense in regard to furnishing evidence of title of the city pipe line. Mr. Sohoenwerk states that the.arrangement with the city that the city is to assure us that it has acquired good title to the pipe line. In such case, we presume that you should make arrangements with the abstract company for certificates of title. I have already had some correspondence with Mr. Miller on the subject and he is familiar with what we will require. Yours very truly, William M. Allen. Gentlemen: I am directed by the City Council to take up with you the matter of consumers being ser- ved with water from the main supply line outside of the City Limits and to ascertain if you Aril in- sist that all such services, other than the Irondale-Hadlock connection, be discontinued before you take over the line under the lease. It appears that such service is being rendered to Fred J. E. Berkheimer Mfg Co., within four months from that date, to foreclose their alleged lien, demand is hereby made by the undersigned for that sum of money retained by the said City of Port Townsend for that purpose.
