Mayor and City Cdunoil, May 70 1929 City of Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen' I take this means of conveying to you certain deficiencies in the apparatus now owned and operated by the Volunteer Fire Department. Recent fires of the -past two weeks have demonstrated the dire necessity of the re- placement of the old and obsolete fire apparatus of the City with new, modern and standard fire equipment. The fire in the Hopper home on April 21 demonstrated the inadequacy of our equipment. At that fire the water pressure was practically nil, and the premises of Mr. Hopper were saved through more good fortune than through the working ability of our fire.equipment.
