FROM MASTER PLUMBERS: Communication from Brown & Rue, at al, was presented and read as
follows:
Port Townsend, Washington
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council: April 2, 1929
Vie, the undersigned licensed plumbers, operating a plumbing business from regularly
established plumbing shops, do hereby request your Honorable Body not to grant permits or
licenses to persons who are not willing to establish themselves or conduct their business
to conform with the City Ordinance.
Under the present conditions any persons can obtain a license or permit claiming they
will do their own work, and then obtain some irresponsible pipe fitter who does not under-
stand sanitary plumbing and therefore cannot comply with the rules of the established City
Ordinance.
At present there are plumbing operators doing their work without the necessary
licenses or permits which is not only a detriment to the operators of regular licensed
establishments, but is also giving the owner who employ the, poor and unsatisfactory work.

Mr. W. R. Porter
617 Water Street
Port Townsend, Washington
Dear Sir: kth further reference to your inquiry of January 14th in regard to obtaining
water service from the City of Port Townsend, outside of the city limits.
The Department has received additional information from the city clerk, indicating that
there are other customers who are being served from the leased transmission line at present,
at the regular city rates. However, the Department is also informed that
"These customers were allowed to tap the old city line in years gone by, mainly for
accommodation to thelp, and these customers were all notified in writing that the City would
be unable to further serve them whenever the lease of the new transmission line became effective.
"As the lease is not yet in force, these customers were given temporary service to give
them an opportunity to secure a water supply elsewhere before the water was shut off."
