REPORTS OFOFFICERS.• TREASURER'S REPORT: The report of the City Treasurer for the month of February, 19290 was presented, read referred to the Finance Committee, CITY ENGINEER: A communication from the City Engineer was presented and read, as follows, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, March 19, 1929 To the Mayor and City Council. :ntlemen: Pursuant to your instructions I have prepared a plan and 3 Estimates for improving Adams Stree -om the North side of Jefferson Street to the South side of Franklin Street. The Street grades t Washington, Jefferson, are established therefore it is necessary that the grades of Adams hreat be held to these elevations. Estimate No. 1 Provides for grading Adams Street full width (73.0 ft) providing reinforced concrete retain- ag walls flush with property lines on both sides, concrete handrail, concrete curb & gutters, 10t onorete sidewalk. Also as the 12" main supply line from the Reservoirs to Water Street comes own this Street. This line is in a very bad condition and in any case providing the old distribu- ion system has the some layout this will have to be rebuilt. It also provides for grading Adams treat from Jefferson to the South side of Franklin Street with concrete sidewalks but no curbs r gutters. The estimated cost of this improvement is about $35900.00, this figure may vary some hen actual working drawings are made. Estimate No. 2 Provides for Timber Cribbing and timber guard rails with wooden sidewalks street graded full dth to South side of Franklin Street. Also renewing 12" main supply pipe. The estimated cost of his work $24968.00 Estimate No. 3 Provides for grading Adams Street the width of the present fill which is about 32.0' A wooden idewalk on one side of the Street between Washington & Jefferson Streets. Also a wood guard rail n both sides of the. Street. Grading Adams from Jefferson to the South side of Franklin Street 11 width (73.01). A 6' wooden walk on each side of the Street. I would not recommend the 32' dth between Washington and Jefferson Street. as I consider it too narrow after providing for a 6' ooden walk and a wooden guard rail, this would reduce your actual width of roadway to 20' which s pretty narrow on the grades shown on the. profile. The estimated cost of this work would be 264.42. There is a profile of the proposed grade between Washington and Franklin Streets, also a eat showing cross sections at .the points marked "A""A""B""B"--"F"F" on profile. The lightest grade shown is 11.7% and the heaviest 24.6% These drawings are not to be considered working drawings but to give you an idea of the grades te, and to work up an estimate. Yours very truly (Signed) W. J. Sadler. 0 • x sx`3' •'r) .195 Said report was referred to the Street Committee.
