s To thb,City Council and Citizens of Port Townsend.
. ovienthe duties of chief executive of your city again, the highest honor that the

I City can bestow upon a fellow citizen, has been given me by your vote of confidence at the primary
and general oleotion.
appreciate the good will of the citizens of Port Townsend and feel that you have appreciate
1 my efforts in the past, and I have your oonfidenae in my ability for the future. Port Townsend today is un
I believe in our city as a progressive, industrial and home city.
questionably one of the fastest growing communities in the industrial world. We are receiving to
' day more Pnvoinble ooffinenta upon our activities than at any other time, within the memory oT the
majorlb
ity of our citizens. We must be alive to the needs of our oommunity. In other words we mu
j sell cub city to ourselves, and then we will be able to sell it to the rest of the world.
' Oao of the things we have hoped and dreamed of for many years is that Port Townsend should be
the terminus aL some great railroad, connecting us with the eastern cart of our country. The pos-
1 I ; sibility is not so remote as in former years. There is every possible chance that the dream and
l hopes may be realized. We moat all put together and accomplish this, that is to say we should
sell our location and community to those in the railroad and industrial world.
