Minutes of Dec. 18/28 continued In accordance with the order of the Council and official notive in the Port Townsend Leader, sealed bids for the collection and removal of garbage and rubbish for the calendar year beginning Jan. 1st, 1929, were now opened and read as follows: From Chas. J. Nelson, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., December 18, 1926 Honorable Mayor and City Council of Port Townsend, Wash. Dear Sirs: In reply to your advertisement regarding the removal of garbage during the year 1929, I will comply with the rules and the Ordinances of the City and also to the best interest of the peo- ple. In regard to the dump I will take care of it at my own espenne providing it is left in a rea sonable condition. Will pay the City $25.00 for the privilege. Respectfully submitted, Chas. J. Nelson, from Harry Hansen, to -writ: Port Townsend, 17ash., December 17, 1928 The City Council, Port 'Townsend, Nash. Sirs: - I hereby bid $30.00 for the garbage disposal contract. Lammers, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., December 14, 1928 City Council, Dear Sirs: - I herewith enter a bid of $50.00 for the privilege of hauling and disposing of City gar- bage and rubbish through its regular channel, the City garbage dump, for the year 1929. And the maintenance of said dump shall be at the bidders own expense. Yours truly, F. H. Lammers, Port Townsend, Wash. Contract awarded Lammers. It was moved by Councilman Hanson and 'seconded by Councilman Gerson that the contract be award ad to F. H. Lammers. Upon roll call, Councilmen Coyne, Gerson, Manson Quenell and Miller voted in the affirmative and Councilman Lammers was excused from voting. Motion declared carried. Bond Required for Garbage Contract. It viamoved by Councilman Manson and seconded by Councilman Gerson that the bond for the Gar- bage contract be fixed at $100.00 and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to enter into a contract with F. 11. Lammers for disposal of garbage. Upon roll call, all six councilmen pres- ent voted in favor thereof and motion was declared carried. CANVASS OF ELECTION RETURNS. The City Clerk now presented the official returns of the Municipal Election held on the 4th day of December, 1928, and made affidavit as to their autnenticity. Mayor Bangerter then appointed Councilmen Quenell, Lammers and Manson as tellers, who canvass- ed the vote and announced the result. The following statement of the result of said canvass was presented and read, to -writ: STATEMENT OF CANVASS OF RETURNS OF MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD DECEMBER 4th, 1928.
