From City Eng. & Water Supt. Communication from W. J. Sadler, City Eng. and Water Supt., was presented and read as'follows; to -wit: City Hall, Port Townsend, Wash.,Sept.25, 1928 To the Mayor and City Council; Gentlemen: When the new 20" pipe is connected to the 11E" Line at the City Limits, I would advise having a check valve installed so that in case of a blow out or a shut off of the water from any cause, the reservoir would not be drained. The only control of the water in the reservoir at the present time is in the valve chamber at the ieservoir and if this valve was shut off it would mean tha a large portion of the City would be wijhout water. In the even] of a big break I doubt whether the valve could be shun off in time to save the water in the reservoir. This check valve should be provided with a bye pass in order that the valve would not close too quickly andihrow a sud- den pressure on the line. I have written the Crane Company for a quotation on a valve of this type so that you may know cost of installing same. Respectfully, W. J. Sadler, City Eng.& Water Supt. Quotation from Crane Co.
