It was then moved by Councilman Manson, seconded by Oouncilman Chapelle, that
the City Clerk be instructed to write the Farmers Market Committee, advising them
that the City had not established a Public Market by Ordinance but has granted per-
5 mission to erect stalls at the corner of Lawrence and Polk Streets and to conduct
same by their own organization; and that the City assumes no authority nor respons
bility to control the manner of marketing at said location.
Upon roll call, Councilman Quenell, Lammers, Chapelle, Gerson and Manson voted
in the affirmative and Councilman Coyne in the Negative. Motion declared carried.

Councilman Coyne called the attention of the Council to the fact that patrons
of the water system in Irondale and Hadlock had been without water for approximately
a month, and moved, seconded by Councilman Gerson, that no charge be made Hadlook
and Irondale patrons for the month of September except those,who did not pay for
August. Upon roll call, all six Councilmen present voted in favor thereof and mC-

The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Wash..,met in regular session
this 18th day of September, 1928, at 8 P.M., in the Council Chamber of the City Hal:
Councilman Quenell, Mayor Pro Tem presiding.
ROLL CALL.
Upon roll call there were present City Attorney Jas. W. B. Scott) City Clerk
C. F. Christian, and Councilmen William Lammers, Jacob Miller, P. M. Coyne, Max Ger.
son, P. A. Manson, and Edw. Quenell.
READING MINUTES.
The minutes of the regular session of Sept. 4th were read and after correctio
to show that the City Attorney had advised that the consent of they>owners'cof three

REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
City Attorney._
City Attorney Scott reported that the suit of Allan Trumbull:vs The City of
Port Townsend for services as Special Counsel for the Mayor in the case of Paul Hin-
ton vs George Bangerter as Mayor of the City, had come before Judge J. IQ. Ralston,
who had reduced the judgment from $750.00 to $250.00 and $20.00'for costs of case,
and that Allan Trumbull having acknowledged satisfaction of judgement in full for
said amount as shown-by•a certified copy of said judgement and satisfaction, he had
advised the City Officers that the Judgement was legal and could be legally paid.
City Treasuter.
The report off the City Treasurer for the month ending August 31, 1998, was pre-
sented, read, and referred to the committee on Finance and Claims.
REPORTS OF STANDING CUMMIT'i't;La.
Water Committee on Water ain Extension petition.
Councilman Manson, reporting verbally on the petition for water main extension
in the Eisenbeis Addition, stated that the iHembers of the Water Committee had been
over the ground and found that at this time there was only five or six houses to be
supplied with water from the proposed extension; that the cost of the proposed ex-
tension would be approximately $2000.00 and that under such circumstances, he ques-
tioned the advisability of making the expenditure at this time, which he believed t
be the unanimous opinion of the Water Committee. Councilman Coyne stated that he
fully agreed with Councilman Manson, and at the present time, the first problem to
be solved was to get the water from the new main at the City Limits 'to the reservoi
Mr. Cal Thompson, one of the signers of the petition, was given permission to
address the Council and presented an agreement signed by John D. Watkins and others
to dig the trench for the pipe and to back fill same, if the City would funnish and
.lay the pipe. He also named a list of hoabesnbuilt or under construction in this
vicinity and made a strong plea for water service for these new home owners. The
aforementioned agreement was then read to the Council and at the request of Mr.Thom
son returned to him to obtain more signatures. As no action was proposed at this
time, the committee was granted further time.

used for a poultry house and will be located on rear of lot. Building will be mo-
