Plumb, to -writ: Olympia, Wash., Sept. 5, 1928 I City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: On August 27 afire was set by some unknown person in the old logging slash of the Kay -Smith Logging Company in the Little Quilcene Water Shed. This fir lspread to the Southwest, across the Little Quilcene river ver wwhihich is in the area pro- "' tested by the Forest Service. r' It was necessary for us to suppress this fire, and in doing So we had o use employees hired for your pipe line construction. Since this fire, if allows to spread would. have endangered your pipe line, I feel sure that you will be wil- 4 ling to allow the contractors two extra days in which to complete their contract,in view of the two days' work which their men worked on the fire. Dear Idr, Christian: l Enclosed you will find a communication from the Farmers Market Committee which Johnny Gay has asked me to prepare and mail to you for reading at the next Council meeting. I id gZnication, or petition was then read as follows, to -wit: TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL: According to the provisions of the Ordinance authorizing the establishing of j the Farmers Market a fee of twenty-five (25) cent was to be collected from each far mer who used the stalls. To date no fees have been collected. We urge that provisions be made for col j' lecting these fees, and that said fees be put in a fund for reimbursing those who financed the building of the stalls. The funds accumulating after the payment of the original cost of building could be used for eauipment or expansion. F cost of the present building was fifty-nine dollars and ninety-nine cents.
