2l1may reside, congregate or are employed which cannot be connected to
311a public sewerage system as hercinabove set forth, shall be
4'equipped with and serviced by an individual sewage disposal system
5 of a type approved by the District Health Officer or his authorized
6 representative, the minimum requirements for which are set forth
7 in the Rules and Regulations of the District Board of Health and
8 amendments thereof and additions thereto as may from time to time
9 be made; PROVIDED, HO'iEVER, that any water -carried sewage disposal
10 system existing at the effective date of this ordinance, and that
11 is otherwise lawful, may continue to be used and operated until
12 such time as alteration or repair of such selvage system is neces-
13 sary, and that upon alteration or repair of any such non -conforming
14 system said system shall be reconstructed and maintained according
15 to the provisions of this ordinance.
16 Section 4: It shall be unlawful for any owner or occupier
17 of any building, structure or trailer to allow any sewage or house-
18 hold wastes to flow or seep upon the surface of the ground or into
19 any roadside ditch, stream, lake or body of water within the
20 corporate limits of the City of Port Townsend, Washington.
21 Section 5: Pit type toilets may be used only during temporary
22 periods of construction or with the written approval of the Dist-
23 riot Health Officer or his authorized representative.
241I Section 6: Prior to beginning any construction, alteration
2.5 or repair of any individual sewage disposal system, the owner or
26 occupier of the affected premises shall submit plans for said
27 system to, and acquire a construction permit in writing from the
28 District Health Officer.
29 Section 7: Any privy or private sewage disposail system
30 existing or being maintained and which does not conform to the
31 provisions of this ordinance shall be and is hereby declared a
32 nuisance and a monace to the public health and safety.
