AN ORDINANCE of the Uity of Port lownciend, providing for the appropriation of
money for the Ourrent Expense fund of said city, and for the
expenditure thereof during the year 1940, and declaring an
emergency;
NHEREAS, the protracted dry spell has occasioned an unprecedented
demand upon the services of the Port 'Townsend Vire Department to such an
extent that the budget for this Department for the ,year 1940, for pay of
firemen and otherwise, will be exhausted before the end of the fiscal year,
and,
WHEREAS, maintenance of the mire Department is a mandatory govermental
function, and,
'.'JHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council, the stun of 4600.00,
should be a sufficient sum to maintain said department until December 31,
1940, therefore,
THE CITY GMICIL Cr, THE CITY OF PORT TWIXSEP]D DO ORDA111 AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That an emergency be and the same is now declared to exist
requiring the immediate appropriation of money for the current Expense Fund
of said city in the following particular:
Fire
Department
Pay
of
Volunteer Firemen
:�250.00
Labor 100.00
Supplies and Yiscel. 50.00
Fire Alarm Repair 200.00
Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Port l'ownsend be and
he is hereby authorized to issue emergency warrants upon the Current
Expense Fund of the City of Port Townsend, not exceeding; the foregoing
amounts, upon presentation of properly approved vouchers.
Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port 'Townsend
Leader, to be in force and take effect from and after five (5) days from the
date of such publication.
