ORDINANCE No. 1092
AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend declaring the acts of certain solicitors,
peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants, and transient vendors of mer—
chandise, to be a nuisance and providing a penalty for violation hereof.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWSs
Section 1. That the practice of being in and upon private residences in the
City of Port Townsend by solicitors, peddlers, hawkers, itinerant merchants, and
transient vendors of merchandise, not having been requested or invited so to do by
the owner or owners, occupant or occupants of said private residence, for the pur—
pose of soliciting orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise, andjor for
the purpose of disposing of and/or peddling or hawking the same, is hereby declared
to be a nnieance, and punishable as such as a misdemeanor.
Section 2. The Chief of Police of the City of Port Townsend is hereby required
and directed to suppress the same, and to abate any such maisanos as is described in
the first section of this ordinance.
Section 3. Any person convicted of perpetrating a nuisance,as desoribed and
prohibited in the first section of this ordinance, shall be punished by a fine of
not to exceed $100.00, or imprisonment in the City jail of not to exceed thirty
(30) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend leader,
to be in force and take effect as provided by law.
