!UMMEAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend from an examination of the preliminary budget now on file
with said council that there will be insufficient money returned
to the city treasury of the City of Port Townsend during the ,year
1935, through taxation and otherwise, to provide for and carry out
the functions of city government for that year; and,
SW2EA5, under the provisions of Initiative 1io. 54 (Chanter
4, Laws of :4ashington, 1933), cities and towns are granted power
to levy taxes in excess of fifteen mills, when authorized so to
do,by the electors of such city or town; and,
WIMMEAS, it appears to the City Council that an election
for that purpoEe is necessary, and that the following propositions
should be submitted to the qualified electors of the city for
ratification or rejection, now therefore,

Section 1. That a special election be held in the
City of Port Toanoend and the various voting precincts thereof on

Tuesday the 25th day of September, 1934, which dxJm e.nd date be,
and hereby is,fixed as the date upon wrhich said election rhall be
held and shall be voted upon by the qualified electors of said
city the followin propositions and questions, in the manner
f ollowing:
