AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Townsend providing
'for and fixing the date of a special
election for the qualified voters of
the city to ratify or reject propositions
granting to the City Council ,uthurity
to levy taxes: on the taxable property
of said city in excess of the rate of
fifteen mills nov provided by law.
YRi`;REAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Port
Townsend from an examination of the preliminary budget now on file
with said council that there ;•rill be insufficient money returned
to the city treasury of the City of Port Tovnncend during the year
1935, through taxation and otherwise, to provide for and carry out
the functions of city government for that year; and,
P/KtIREA5., under the provisions of Initiative 110. 54 (Chanter
4, Laws of Washington, 1933), cities and towns are granted pourer
to levy taxes in excess of fifteen mills, when authorized so to
do by the electors of such city or towm; and,
WhERE,AS, it appears to the City Council that an election
for that purpose is necessary, and that the following propositions
should be submitted to the oualified electors of the city for
ratification or rejection, now therefore,

Section 1. That a special election be held in the
City of Port To-rnsend and the various voting precincts thereof on
