3 The City Council of the City of Port 'Townsend, Washington do
1 t ordain as follows:

Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to have ohar€;e
of, maintain, ccrduct or run, any public dance hall within the limits
of said city, for Cain, without first obtaining a license in the man-
ner hereinafter provided.
7 Sec. 2. The license fee for for having charge of, maintaining,
j conducting or running such public dance hall shall be as follows:.

Sec. 3. Any person desiring, to obtain such license shall first
pay into the City Treasury the amount of too license fen herein pro-
vided, and shall file with the City Clerk his petition giving the nam
of the person desiring such license, his residence for the year imme-
diately preceding the filing of such petition, the location where sue
dance hall is to be conducted, stating definitely the part or parts.

which the said license is desired, the statement that the license fee
has been paid, and the written permissiJon of the owner or agent of
the building permitting the same to be used for such purpose.
Sec. 4. Upon presentation of such petition to the City Council
at a regular meeting thereof, the came shall be referred to the proper
committee for report and recommendation at the next regular meeting
of the council thereafter, but no such license shall be granted by
the council unless they are satisfied that such applicant is of a good
moral character and will conduct an orderly place.
Sec. S. After such petition has been granted by the council, a
license in due form shall be issued by the clerk, stating the name of
the licensee, the time said license is to rim, the date of the issue
thereof, and the location and description of the building- or place
where the same is to be conducted an given in said petition. Such
license shall at all times be kept posted in tho place where the same
is to be used during; the time it is in force.
23 Sec. 6. It shall he unlawful for any person having charge of,

to allow or permit: any person to be or remain therein for any purpose
25 whatever under the age of paenty-one years, or to keep or permit or
allow any one to keep any intoxicating liquor of any kind on the said

Soc. 7.All such public, dance halls must he properly lighted,

Sec. 8. Any person violating any of the provisions of this or-
29 �dinance or in any manner refusing, to comply with its provisions shall.
he deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall

ommnnt for any length of time not oxcending; two months or by both sue
