An Ordinance providing for the taxing, impounding and killing
of dogs and i mp,psinr penalties for the violation of said ordinance.
and repealing ordlnanno No. 621.
The City Council of the City Hof Port Townsend do ordain as
follows:
Section 1. That no dog, male or female,. shall be permitted to .
run at large or abroad in or upon_an•y of the streots; squares, alloys
or other public places with the City of Port Townsend without wearing
a. tag showing that the license hereinafter imposed has bean paid..,
sec. 2. The owner or parson having in charge any dog, male or
femald, permitted to run at large or abroad within the city limits,
shall on or before the first day of November of each year, beginning
with the year 1909, pay into the City Treasury the sum of two dol-
lars, which .said payment shall entitlet such owner or keeper to .a re-
ceipt from the city treasurer showing the owner's or keeper's name'.:'
and the number of tho license to be issued, and upon the presentation

conse to such owner or keeper and at the same time deliver to him
5...` a metallic license tag, which said tag shall be attached to a collar
to be worn by such dog.' c
Sec. 3. Any inhabitant of this city permitting any dog,, male or
female, of which he is the owner o T-keeper to run at large or abroad
in or upori the streets, alloys, public squares, or other public plac

as within said city }without having first paid the license required
by this ordinance, or without attaching, to such dog a proper license
tag as herein provided showing the number of the license, or who
shall suffer or cause such tag to be pug on any dog with intent to
avoid the payment of such license, shall upon convit;tion thereof be +
subject to a fine of not less than five dollars nor more than twenty .'.I

Sec. 4. No female dog in Lime of heat, no vicious drag, or mad
dog, shall,be allowed to run at large or abroad within the city
limits, andit shall be lawrfUl for the city marshalx or any police
officer or any private citizen to kill all such dogs, and the owner r
