Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 4:16 p.m.
Approval of Minutes — May 5, 2023
Motion to approve minutes passed unanimously. (Secretary's note — the minutes
included in the final packet were from April, rather than May; the 5/5/23 minutes
will be included in the next meeting packet.)

None
Lateral Officer Hiring Eligibility List
Motion passed unanimously to certify the Lateral Officer Hiring Eligibility List as
resented. The list remains in effect for six months.
Application & Hiring Process for Academy
Amber Long described the current lateral officer application requirements and the
Graduates
potential benefits of allowing Academy -certified applicants to apply separately from
entry level applicants. Chief Olson explained that there are three openings, with
one possible entry level hire in background process. No officers have yet been
promoted to sergeant, and the Deputy Chief candidate is in background.
Motion passed unanimously to establish an interim hiring process for Academy -
certified applicants who meet the minimum requirements outlined in the 5/30/23
staff memo but who do not qualify as lateral officers and to establish a separate
hiring list for Academy -certified candidates. The Commissioners agreed to
reevaluate the interim process in one year and determine whether to incorporate it
into the Civil Service Rules.
