HomeMy WebLinkAbout021423 Library Advisory Board Meeting MinutesLIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD MEETING NOTES Regular Meeting DATE: February 14, 2023 W START TIME: 1:OOpm LOCATION: City Hall 31 Floor Conference Room MEMBERS PRESENT: Ellie Mathews, Kathy Ryan, Kathleen Hawn, Rebakah Daro Minarchek, Ann Katzenbach, David Tolmie, Owen Rowe (Council Liaison) MEMBERS ABSENT: Jacqueline Mention (excused absence) STAFF PRESENT: Library Director Melody Sky Weaver, Library Manager of Public and Technical Services Keith Darrock AGENDA ITEM ACTION IV Approval of Minutes Minutes unanimously approved for August 9, 2022 & October 11, 2022. December 13, 2022 meeting was canceled. V Old Business: a. Introductions a. none b. Services and Program Update Melody updated the board about current services and programs including discussion about the VI New Business: changing role of libraries in the 211t century and a. Introductions the uses of spaces to be dynamic welcoming places for community members of all ages to b. Services and Program Updates meet, learn, create, read etc. She also talked about the return to in person programs with a c. Library Statistics emphasis on youth services programs. Several d. Community Read Update suggestions were made about how to balance the needs for dynamic environment with a quiet e. Library Strategic Plan Update environment. c. Library Statistics Keith gave an overview of library statistics and State Library statistics and where the stats are since the pandemic. Community Read Update Melody updated the board on this year's reading month, Braiding Sweeigrass for Young Adults by Robin Wall Kimmerer & Adapted by Monique Gray Smith and the exciting month of in person and virtual programs https:Hptpubliclibrary.org/library/page/community- read e. Library Strategic Plan Update The 2022 plan's accomplishments were reviewed along with the updated workplan for 2023. A couple of minor errors were spotted that will be correct and updated on the library's website.
