MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP RETREAT OF SEPTEMBER 28, 2018
CALL TO ORDER
The Port Townsend City Council met in workshop session on the 28th day of September
2018 in the Cotton Building at 607 Water Street. Mayor Stinson called the meeting to order
at 8:30 AM.
ROLL CALL
Councilmembers present at roll call were Pamela Adams, Robert Gray, David Faber, Amy
Howard, Ariel Speser, Michelle Sandoval and Deborah Stinson.
Staff members present were Finance and Administrative Services Director Nora Mitchell,
Development Services Director Lance Bailey, Public Works Director Greg Lanning, Police
Chief Michael Evans, Finance Manager Sheila Danielson, Parks and Community Services
Director Alex Wisniewski, Library Manager Public and Technical Services Keith
Darrock, Library Manager Hilary Verheggen, and Executive Assistant Kelly Graves.
Consultant Mike Letcher.
PUBLIC COMMENT
Debbie Jahnke urged including regional parity and equity of services and amenities in the
plan update.
Gwendolyn Tracy of the Port Townsend Marine Trades spoke about building strong
working relationships between the new port manager and city manager.
SET DIRECTION AND PROFILE FOR THE CITY MANAGER RECRUITMENT
The welcome and opening remarks were given by Mayor Deborah Stinson. Mike Letcher
gave the overview and expected outcomes for the day and led a Council and Staff in a
review of the expectations for the organization with staff providing amendments based on
survey results.
Mr. Letcher summarized the outcomes. Mayor Stinson made closing remarks.
ADJOURN
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
