HomeMy WebLinkAbout3217 Repurposing the Current Equipment Rental Fund as a Standalone Internal Service Fund for Fleet Equipment Replacement Only and Amending Chapter 3.04 of the PTMCOrdinance 3217 ORDINANCE NO. 3217 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, REPURPOSING THE CURRENT EQUIPMENT RENTAL FUND AS A STANDALONE INTERNAL SERVICE FUND FOR FLEET EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT ONLY AND SEPARATING INFORMATION SERVICES EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE, INFORMATION SERVICES EQUIPMENT REPLACEMENT, AND FLEET EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE TO OTHER FUNDS AND AMENDING CHAPTER 3.04 OF THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE WHEREAS, Revised Code of Washington RCW 35.21.088 requires the City of Port Townsend to establish an equipment rental fund in the City's Street Department and allows that fund to serve other City departments; and, WHEREAS, the City's needs have out -grown the current equipment rental fund established in 1974, and staff recommends splitting the fund into four separate funds; NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend do ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 3.04 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is amended as set forth in Exhibit A. Section 2. Policy. The City Manager is authorized to draft, approve, and implement policy for this fund consistent with its the stated purpose. Section 3. Severability. If any sentence, clause or phrase of this Ordinance should be held to be invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, such invalidity or unconstitutionality shall not affect the validity or constitutionality of any other section, sentence, clause or phrase or work of this Ordinance. Section 4. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force on January 1, 2019. Publication of this Ordinance shall be by summary thereof consisting of the title.
