facilitated strategic planning retreat in September 2018 to provide input on the proposed profile for the
new City Manager. They will be identifying text to use in the recruitment materials as part of their work
and want input from City advisory boards/commissions as well as input from the broader community to
the questions. The goal is for the boards to do the best they can to arrive at consensus on the responses.
Survey -- City Manager
The City Manager serves as the administrative head and chief executive officer of the City government
responsible for the direction and effective coordination of all City services, operations, and
implementation of City Council policy. Serves as the chief advisor to the City Council. Serves as the City
representative in intergovernmental relations.

2. What qualities of leadership are most critical to the City Manager’s success in Port Townsend?
3. How would you like the/a City Manager to interact with the community?
4. Anything else you would like the City Council to consider (the Council will hire the new City
Manager)?
