Goal
Business and agency managers can be alerted to key events, network, connect, plan abead
and chat through a multi-modal website that features an np-to-date calendar of key events,
an archive of business resources and government forms, and a weekly e-newsletter of key
events and deadlines. It serves as a business portal to information, events, connections and
resources in partnership with the City of Port Townsend.
Partnership
J effConnections would be a business information and connections partnership between the
City of Port Townsend and the Port Townsend & Jefferson County Leader.
Audience
The J effConnections audience is primarily business and agency owners and managers, along
with entrepreneurs and startups, in Port Townsend and rural Jefferson County. A secondary
audience is active citizens who want to keep informed about matters affecting the business
community.
Four Objectives:
1. CALENDAR
Inform local businesses & agencies about upcoming events and deadlines via Trumba
calendar platform to help them plan abead. Data entry from Leader staff, Centrum, City
staff, WSU Team Jefferson. Calendar entries would be automatically broadcast to other
calendar platforms such as Google, Yahoo, MacCalendar, etc. This calendar would
emphasize events of greatest impact on local businesses and agencies.
2. CONNECTIONS
Connect local businesses & agencies with each other through a localized networking site that
offers each participant a business profile page and several live networking devices including
chat rooms, forums, discussion threads, message boards and blogs. Create a local social
networking site for Port Townsend &Jefferson County businesses and agencies, with links
to other key sites. Most of the content would be self-generated, ,vith promoted, managed
forums as part of the mix. We want businesses to talk to each other as much as possible, and
to promote success stories. Photo, audio and video components and capability.
3. ARCHIVE/LIBRARY
Provide a substantial archive of online resources including government forms and deadlines,
and a library of business resources. Also links to many other business-related sites. The
archive/library will be the source of "How-to's" for small businesses. F AQs. Import relevant
content from other sources. Network with existing sites to share resources, information and
avoid duplication.

4. WEEKLY E-NEWSLETTER
Distribute a weekly e-newsletter of upcoming events and deadlines of most importance to
businesses and agencies. Each newsletter is anchored by a staff-generated business article of
timely importance, updates on sales tax receipts, real estate activity, columns. RSS feed and
e-mail list distribution. "Departments" to provide broad glimpse oflocal business activity.

Technical & internet fees: $650

Site Maintenance
Technical & design: $210/week = $910/month
We envision using Trumba, Ning.com, domain and hosting, along with widget add-ons.
Content & feeder/editing: $200/week = $866/month
Technical & internet: $45/week = $195/month
Total Site Maintenance: $455/week = $1,971/month
Promotion
Promotion would be targeted via City e-newsletter, Chamber and Leader mailings to
businesses, Chamber newsletter, Leader, PT Leader.com, \'\ISU Team Jefferson,
EnjoyPT.com, Port Hadlock Chamber, Brinnon-Quilcene Chamber, Port Ludlow Chamber.
Site would offer limited advertising.

Ongoing: $150/month
