AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE USE OF SKATEBOARDS AND
ROLLER SKATES ON CERTAIN SIDEWALKS AND ON CITY STREETS,
AND DEFINING TERMS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION
ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The term "~kateboard~ is defined as a flat board
or other material to which wheels have been attached in such manner
that the same may contain a person in a standing position on the
top thereof, and includes all such devices as may commonly be offered
for sale as "skateboards."
Section 2. The use or riding of skateboards is prohibited on
all portions of streets in the City of Port Townsend which are open to
vehicular traffic and all public sidewalks on the portions of streets
hereinafter mentioned, to wit:
Water Street between Monroe Street and Harrison Street;
Washington Street between Monroe and Taylor Streets;
Taylor Street between Washington and Front Streets;
Adams Street between Washington and Water Streets;
Quincy Street between Water and Washington Streets;
Lawrence Street between Taylor and Harrison Streets; and
Monroe Street between Lawrence and Water Streets.
Section 3. The use and operation of roller skates on all por-
tions of streets open to vehicular traffic and on the sidewalks set
forth in Section 2 hereof is prohibited.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage,
approval and publication in the form and manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times, passed by the
Council, and approved by the Mayor on August 17, 1976.
