HomeMy WebLinkAbout011017 FINAL MinutesLODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES DATE: January 10, 2017 START TIME: 3:00 p.m. LOCATION: City Hall Conference Room 3 VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: Michelle Sandoval (Chair), Nathan Barnett (via teleconference), Cindy Finnie (via teleconference), Denise Winter, Barb Trailer NON-VOTING MEMBERS PRESENT: Mari Mullen, William Roney MEMBERS EXCUSED: Dave Robison, Robert Birman, Sherri Hanke, Amanda Milholland, Todd Gubler, Janette Force, Teresa Verraes CITY STAFF PRESENT: City Manager David Timmons, Marketing Director Christina Pivarnik, Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker GUESTS: Steve Shively Topic Action Chair Michelle Sandoval called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m. Approval of Minutes: November 10, 2016 Not reviewed due to lack of quorum David Timmons reviewed 2016 Lodging Tax activity, noting above projection revenue at $474,000 and expenses $30,000 below projections leading to a $40,000 - $50,000 increase in reserves (now up to $220,000). He also gave details on upcoming capital projects on Water Street, SR 20, Visitor Information Center Plaza, Jefferson Street and the Memorial Field fence. Christina Pivarnik expressed appreciation for Nora Mitchell’s efforts on securing a funding grant for Main Street. She presented highlights of the winter marketing campaign advertisements. The Committee discussed potential long-term goals for using Lodging Tax reserves, including: • Public restrooms • Performing arts venue • Lighting • Lincoln Building restoration • Trash and recycling • Parking • Transportation between Fort Worden-Downtown-Uptown • Wifi downtown • Signage and banners • Maintenance personnel • Vechicle charging stations • Walking tours/building tours Next Meeting: April 11, 2017 Adjourn: The meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
