HomeMy WebLinkAbout100715 FINAL MinutesARTS COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES DATE: October 7, 2015 START TIME: 3:00 p.m. LOCATION: City Hall, Conference Room 3 MEMBERS PRESENT: Dominica Lord-Wood, Owen Rowe, Stan Rubin (Chair), Lisa Wentworth, Abbie Greene MEMBERS EXCUSED: Dan Groussman, Kris Morris STAFF PRESENT: Deputy City Clerk Joshua Stecker, City Attorney Steve Gross Topic Motions/Recommendation/Action Approval of Minutes: September 2 and September 9, 2015 The Minutes were unanimously approved with clerical revisions. Ron Deon asked the Commission to allow Rain Shadow Chorale to reapply their granted funds to other expenses. The Commission unanimously approved that previously granted funds up to $300 for programs, posters and publicity costs could be used for honorarium and other workshop expenses on the proposed event budget. Noah Phillips, a student at Port Townsend High School, asked the Commission to reapply their previously granted funds to other expenses associated with his fall theatrical production. The Commission unanimously approved that $200 of previously granted funds of up to $300 for printing and publicity costs could be used for royalty payments for two pay-what-you- wish performances. Lisa Wentworth updated the Commission on the Angel of the Arts event. The Commission agreed that applications for the event would be accepted between November 1 and November 30. Abbie Greene presented information on potential grants that the Arts Commission may be eligible to apply for. Abbie Greene will research the grant procedure further and report back to the Commission. Owen Rowe informed the Commission of ArtsWA’s intent to pursue legislation to allow for the establishment of Creative Districts. City Attorney Steve Gross presented the Commission with a revised policy document for their review. The Commission discussed the need for a disclaimer on the policy document that acknowledged that funding was subject to the judgment of the Commission. The Commission unanimously approved acceptance of the policy document with the removal of the last section on funding criteria. A revised application for funding will be brought forward by staff at a future date. Next Regular Meeting: November 4, 2015 Adjourn: The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
