Port Townsend Planning Commission Meeting Minutes.
Members Present: Lester, Loomis, May,, Miner, wo t, Johnson and Diets
The meeting was called to order, the minutes were approved as read.
There was a. brief discussion concerning the Vacation of Hendricks
between 19th and loth, the Planning Commission had recommended to deny},
however the Couch voted for passage.
letter was read from June Scott suggesting that she would be desirous
of being releved of the secretary oh to the, Commrdssion, due to many
reasons.
Old Business:
The Commission, with the recommendation of the Uptown Committee, decided
to send a letter to the Council suggesting that the below listed area be
re-zoned to C-3, and to include all areas included within these boundaries
Begining at Lawrence and Tyler Street; East on Lawrence to one-
half to Taylor; North one-half block, straight west thru to F I* more;
South on Pilmore to Lawrence; west to Van wren; South one-half
block; then,- East to Polk; South on Polk to Clay; then East on
Clay to Tyler; North on Tyler to Lawrence; which is the place o
begining.
This motion was made by F.Lester, seconded by M.Loomis. Vote 4 yes, 2 no.
Mr. Bishop and Mr. oywens were present and a petition was read From thea
asking for a re-zone of an area already called the ' Sims Way Area" on a motion
by M.Loomis, seconded by May, a Public Hearing will be held on July 30th,
to consider re-zoning:
egining on Sheridan and Sims Way; south one block to Third; west
Three blocks to Shen an; North one block to Forth; west six blocks
on Forth to I cPhereson;one block South on McPherson to Third;
West on Third to Howard; North on Howard to Sevenths East on
Seventh to Sheridan; South on Sheridan to the starting point; and
to extend this zone two hundred Feet vde on both sides of Sims
Way; to include the extension of Shasta street.
The vote a% 5 yes, o no, 1 abstain,
An application was read requesting that property near Monroe t. and
axt Street,, on which a house called Hastings Mouse is located b
re-zoned to allow prospective owners to conduct ars antique business
Kay Miner suggested that perhaps it would be of benefit to Port Townsend
if an amendmi ent to the Zoning ordinance were in order to allow Antique
Shops as a conditional use in all areas of the City. Bob Johnson however,
made a. motion to set July 30, 19"3 as a public hearing to consider amending
the ordinance to read 11 Antique Sales as a Conditional Use �rmitted in
1, R 2, and R 3 areas.11 Seconded by Harry Dei s. Vote 6 yes, 0 no.

The letter from Roger French discussing the po s s ibili ty of allowin
Motels as a conditional use in R 3 areas of the City was read. A public
hearing was held. After discussion, on a motion by Max Loomis, seconded
by May, it was decided to recommend to the Council to iincludb Motels as
conditional use in R 3 areas. This hearing is on tape.
At the same time, a hearing was held in connection with revision of et-
back regulations, and to consider ancillary buildings. It was decided,
however, to continue that part of the hearing to allow for the new revised
1973 copies of the Uniform Building Code to arrive. This hearing will
continue at such time as this Code can be reviewed for information.
The meeting was adjourned.
