MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL BUSINESS MEETING OF JANUARY 11, 2016
CALL TO ORDER/PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Port Townsend City Council met in special session on the 11th day of January
2016 in the Council Chambers at 540 Water Street. Mayor Deborah Stinson called the
meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Councilmembers present at roll call were Pamela Adams, Robert Gray, Catharine
Robinson, Deborah Stinson, David Faber, and Amy Smith with Michelle Sandoval
excused.
Staff members present were City Manager David Timmons, City Attorney Steve
Gross, Finance Director Nora Mitchell, Public Works Director Ken Clow, and City
Clerk Joanna Sanders .
NEW BUSINESS
Resolution 16-002 Expressing the City Council's Support for the Port
Townsend School District #50's Proposition 1, a Bond Measure to Construct
and Improve Schools
City Manager David Timmons reviewed the endorsement resolution in support of
the bond measure. He noted a corrected resolution was distributed this evening
showing the total levy rate of$1.24 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Public Comment.-
Jeff
omment:Jeff Randall of the It's Elementary Campaign spoke in favor of this resolution. Mr.
Randall responded to questions about grant opportunities and Head Start growth
opportunities.
There was further comment about the desire for keeping Head Start at the current
location.
Motion: Pamela Adams moved to approve Resolution 16-002 Expressing the City
Council's Support for the Port Townsend School District#50's Proposition 1, a Bond
Measure to Construct and Improve Schools. Amy Smith seconded.
Vote: motion carried unanimously, 6-0 by voice vote.
