HomeMy WebLinkAbout2972 Special Historic Tax ValuationOrdinance No. 2972 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND AMENDING THE PORT TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 2.72.070 - ELIGIBLE PROPERTY FOR SPECIAL TAX VALUATION, TO MAKE THE SPECIAL HISTORIC TAX VALUATION APPLICABLE TO ANY PROPERTY LISTED ON THE LOCAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES WHEREAS, in order to assist, encourage, and provide incentives to private owners for preservation, restoration, redevelopment and use of outstanding historic buildings and structures, the City Council determines it appropriate to remove the prohibition on eligibility for special valuation which currently exists for residentially-zoned properties. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Port Townsend ordains as follows: SECTION 1. Amendment. Section 2.72.070 -Eligible property for special tax valuation, of the Port Townsend Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows (text in strikeout is deleted, text in underline is added): 2.72.070 Eligible property for special tax valuation. For the purposes of historic property tax valuation authorized as a duty of the committee under PTMC 2.72.060(A), the class of eligible property is: A. Property within the city's C-III zoning district; and B. Proaertv listed on the Local Register of Historic Places. nr..nor+'e r. SECTION 2. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance or its application to any person or circumstance is held invalid, the remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to other persons or circumstances, is not affected. This ordinance shall take effect and be in force five days after the date of its publication in the manner provided by law.
