MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORKSHOP MEETING OF MAY 11, 2015
CALL TO ORDER
The Port Townsend City Council met in workshop session on May 11, 2015 in the Council
Chambers at 540 Water Street. Mayor King called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Councilmembers present at roll call were Pamela Adams, Robert Gray, David King, Kris
Nelson, Catharine Robinson, and Deborah Stinson with Michelle Sandoval excused.
Staff members present were City Manager David Timmons, Finance Director Nora Mitchell,
Public Works Director Ken Clow, City Engineer David Peterson, and Deputy City Clerk Joshua
Stecker. .
INTRODUCTIONS
Kyle Cronk (CEO of Olympic Peninsula YMCA), Earll Murman (President of JeffCo Aquatic
Coalition), Dave Johnson (President of Olympic Peninsula YMCA Board), Beth O'Neal
(President of Jefferson County YMCA Board) and Erica Delma (Program Director of Jefferson
County YMCA) were present representing the YMCA.
JEFFERSON COUNTY YMCA REGARDING MOUNTAIN VIEW
City Manager David Timmons gave a brief overview of the City's history with the YMCA and
the Mountain View Commons.
Kyle Cronk presented the YMCA's plans for a new facility and gave an overview of its features
and functions. He provided survey results that supported the development of a new facility
and outlined the steps that would need to be taken along the path to completion. Earll
Murman reported on the JeffCo Aquatic Coalition's Make Waves survey which supported the
YMCA survey data.
Kyle Cronk addressed Council's concerns about parking, transit, loss of outdoor space, impact
to existing businesses, green construction and energy, and plans for the existing pool and
gymnasium buildings at Mountain View. David Timmons noted that decisions about the
existing facilities would need to be made in partnership with the other groups collaborating on
the project.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:58 p.m.
