HomeMy WebLinkAbout2958 Budget for 2008ORDINANCE N0.2958 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2008 WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, completed and placed on file with the City Clerk a proposed budget and estimate of the amount of monies required to meet the public expenses, bond retirement and interest, reserve funds and expenses of governrent of the City for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2008 (the "2008 Preliminary Budget"), and a notice was published that the City Council would meet on the 29th of October 2007 and 5th of November 2007 and 10th of December at the hour of 6:30 p.m., at City Hall for the purpose of making and adopting a budget for the fiscal year 2008 and giving taxpayers within the city limits of the City an opportunity to be heazd about the Preliminazy Budget; and WHEREAS, the City Council did meet in City Council Chambers on October 29, 2007 and November 5, 2007, and December 10, 2007, and consider the matter of the 2008 Preliminary Budget; and WHEREAS, the 2008 Preliminazy Budget does not exceed the lawful limit of taxation allowed by law to be levied on the property within the City of Port Townsend for the purposes set forth in the 2008 Preliminazy Budget, and the estimated expenditures in each fund set forth in the 2008 Preliminary Budget are all necessary to carry on the government of the City for fiscal year 2008, and are all necessary to meet the various needs of the City during the period, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The budget for the City of Port Townsend, Washington, for the fiscal year 2008, is hereby adopted at fund level as set forth in the document entitled "City of Port Townsend Final Budget 2008" tluee copies of which are on file with the City Clerk. Section 2. Estimated resources, including fund balances for working capital for each separate fund of the City of Port Townsend, and aggregate totals for all such funds combined, for the year 2008, are set forth in summazy form below, and are hereby appropriated for expenditure at the fund level during the year 2008: FUND General Public Works Admin & Engineering Library Community Services Fire & EMS Services APPROPRIATION $7,451,360 $1,104,938 $ 771,028 $ 820,752 $1,209,549 Ordinance 2958 FUND APPROPRIATION Street $ 889,675 Lodging Tax $ 352,395 Community Development Block Grant $ 50,000 System Development Charges $ 550,000 G.O. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a certified copy of the City of Port Townsend Final Budget 2008 to the Office of State Auditor and to the Association of Washington Cities. Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law. ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, at a special meeting thereof, held this seventeenth day of December 2007.
