HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-03-20 Public Hearing Trinity United Methodist Church two Variances LUP15-001 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Trinity United Methodist Church Conditional Use Permit with two (2)Variances File No. LUP 15-001 On Friday, March 20, 2015, beginning at or about 1 p.m., the Port Townsend Hearing Examiner will hold an open-record public hearing to consider the above referenced application. A more complete project description is provided below. The public hearing will take place in the City Council Chambers, located at 540 Water Street, Port Townsend, WA. A copy of the application and all other related documents are available for review in the public inspection files maintained by the Development Services Department (DSD), located on the 3rd floor, 250 Madison Street, Suite 301. All interested persons may appear at the hearing and provide oral or written testimony. Description: Conditional Use Permit (CUP) approval to allow removal of a series of 1950's era church additions, totaling approximately 1,300 sq. ft., and their replacement with a new 2,000 sq. ft. Fellowship Hall. Consolidated with the request are two (2) associated variances: One would allow lot coverage for the entire Trinity site to exceed what is normally allowed by the underlying R-II zone. The other would grant Trinity relief from all on-site parking requirements. Applicant: Trinity United Methodist Church 609 Taylor Street Port Townsend, WA 98368 Agent: David Weeding 6260 Cape George Road Port Townsend, WA 98368 Location/Legal Description: The address for the Trinity Methodist church itself is 609 Taylor Street; however, the church also owns an adjoining single-family residence at 824 Clay Street. Both properties are being considered as a single site containing 13,420 sq. ft. as part of this request. An abbreviated legal description for the entire Trinity site is Lots 3 (portion of), 5 and 7, Block 137 of the Original Townsite to the City of Port Townsend.
