RESOLUTION NO. 14-004
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT TOWNSEND,WASHINGTON PROVIDING CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE
EMPLOYEE WELLNESS PROGRAM
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend recognizes that employee health is related to
lifestyle decisions and many illnesses and injuries can be prevented by positive individual health
practices; and
WHEREAS,the benefits of employee wellness programs typically increase participants'
awareness of their health options by helping them to acquire the knowledge, skills and
motivation to achieve and maintain healthy lifestyles; and
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend further recognizes that improvements to
employee health, achievable through active workplace health promotion programs and activities
can result in better morale, reduced absenteeism, enhanced productivity and performance, and
can be a prudent strategy to control healthcare expenditures; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council for the City of Port
Townsend hereby expresses its continued support of the City of Port Townsend Wellness
Program whose mission is to promote awareness of healthy lifestyle choices and their positive
effect on complete personal wellness for all employees of the City of Port Townsend.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular business
meeting thereof, held this eighteenth day of February 2014.
