AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE DEFINITION OF SIMPLE
ASSAULT, BY AMENDING SECTION 18 OF ORDINANCE NO.
2014 TOGETHER WITH SECTION 9.02.230 OF THE PORT
TOWNSEND MUNICIPAL CODE, AND ESTABLISHING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR
SESSION ASSEMBLED, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Sectio~ _~. Section 18 o£ Ordinance No. 2014 to~ether with Sec-
tion 9.02.230 of the Port Townsend Municipal Code are each here and
hereby amended to read as follows:
"9.02.230 Simple Assault. A.

"B. Simple assault is a gross misdemeanor."
Section 2. The ordinances and laws amended by this ordinance
are amended except with respect to rights and duties which matured,
penalties which were incurred, and proceedings which were begun, prior
to the effective date of this ordinance,
Section 3. If any provision of this ordinance or its applica-
tion to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the remainder of
this ordinance or the application of %he provision to other persons
or circumstances is not a£fecte~.
Section .~. This ordinance shall take ef£ect upon its passage~
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
Read for the first, second and third times, passed by the City
Council for the City of Port Townsend, and approved by the Mayor of
the City on September 20, 1988.
