HomeMy WebLinkAbout120276Library. Board Meeting December 2, 1906 7: 30 pm Present: Kilham, goldsmith, nelson, Yandell, Harmes and Librarian Beverly Lam. Meeting was called to order by acting chairperson Frank Kilham. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Librarian Beverly Lamb read the monthly report. See attached copy. Where will be a work day Sunday Dec- 12 th. To rearange the Shelves. The open house will be tenativly Jan 22. the circulation time has been changed now all books and records are approx. 3 weeks with due date on tours. the library will be open approx 44 hours with some new times. Furnace room is painted and the shelving lights installed. The correspondence was read. a letter from Robert and Michelle Brunts, concerning the older books. Some suggestions have been made. Sell them for moneyto buy new books, find a depository , possibly start a new public check out system else wpm where. all good sugestions a decision will be made at a later time. There has been no response to the letter sent to Mrs. Wallin. The Rhododendron Club has found that it may not be possible to &e the memorial but will check and let us know some time in feb or march. There was discussion of fines to keep or abolish. It was decided that we would try the no fine system and if it doeel t work we can always institute them again. Signs will be looked into and hopefully installed. The parking lot is still a topic of dicussion we may needan easment. Bob is in charge of this project. NEW BUSINESS the library needs a statement of confidentiality. the board passed on the standard form and the library now has a confidentiality statement. The meeting room policy needs to be reformed or followed strictly. The library should adopbta lost book policy. Beverly suggested a flat fee that the board agreed upon. Bob, Ellie and Jessie will be developing a book selection policy since the library does not have one at this time. Our check out system has been gr atly modified and with the help of the new gaylord machine less time will be spent in check out. The board has agreed that Beverly should make the necessary arraggwnts. Diane Mandell reported ofi the progress of the Friends of the Library and set a meeting time of Dec. 20 at 7:OOpm at the library. This will be the first meeting of the newly orgalized Friends of the Library. The meeting was ajorned at 9:40 pm.
