Those pr:s_)nt ws.ra: Miss Rutladgu, Dr. Chuljian, Mr. Pott- Koff, and Sallie Hill. The minutes of the last meeting wra read. Miss Rutledge noted an omission; to wit, at the afor.sa.d meeting, Mr. Deits authorized Miss Rutledge to transact tha business incidental to the construction and finishing of a new section of shelving for the east and of the main floor of the library. The next subject for consideration concorn.ed the books that hay., bean segregated for ultimate disposal.. Having telephoned th'a members of the Hoard for authorization, Miss . kutl.dge announ-c d that in obs.rvation of Library Week, overdue books could be returned to the library without imposition of fines. In pursuance of the matter of fins for books r;turnad tardily, Miss Rutledge asked for authorization to withdraw the notice now post- ed in the library concerning fines, since the r;gulations therein are not in accordance with good library practice. Were we to purchase the new edition, she added, we could circulate the volumes in the old editions. The next subject of consideration was the matter of hlp in the library during the summer months. Considering the legal aspects of the disposal of books men- tioned above, Dr. Chuljian moved that the City Council be asked to declare the.books. surplus proparty and to authorize their disposal.
