The Port Townsend Library Board met November 3rd at the
Missy Rutledge gave the librarian's reports. She also gave a
brief review of the magazines coming to the library, and infromed
us she had again contacted Mrs. Lloyd, subscription agent, and that
she will be handling this for us.
A letter of application for librarian was read from Miss
Dorothy Jones, former librarian here, at present employed. in San
Francisce. Dr. Chuljian was asked to interview Miss Jones while
he is in San Francisce. The "oard's decision is to advertise by
newspaper, and State Bulletin for someone qualifies for this pos-
ition, that we may have a choice. This was felt to be the best
policy due to the substantial raise in salary by the council.
Miss Rutledge will secure a list for advertising from the Amer-
ican Library Association.
Gifts of books to the library was discussed. Many of these
have been inspected by Miss Rutledge, and it is her recommendation
that several of these be sent to the Thrift Sh&p.
The discussed the possibility of closing the Library
for two weeks during Dec. 21 to Jan. 2nd. This would enable Miss
Rutledge to further put the books and other materials in order.
No decision was :kkz taken on this.
Mrs. Nelson, visitor to the board, restated the interest the
Friends of the Library had in promoting better Library service in
the area. She asked permission for the members of her group to
conduct a survey in the community, to further determine the interest
in a regional development as promoted by the estate. The board mem-
bers thanked her for the interest of her group, and stated they
had no objection to a survey of this type, as long as the public
Library.
