HomeMy WebLinkAbout0727810 ' 7/27/81 The meeting was called to order at 7:55. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Librarian's report is attached:: 1. The YACC will provide an 8 -week, one -shot grounds - keeping program. They will propose a plan on Wednesday the 29th to the Library staff. Workers for Trees for Port Townsend will also help with the grounds.. There are funds available for grounds maintenance. 2. A co-ordinator was hired for the Planning Process: Carol Baird. 3. Bev Lamb will attend a :Library Directors meeting in which new Inter - Library Loan procedures will be discussed. 4. OHA +files and telephone will be transferred in one week. Committee Reports:" 1. Aug. 4 at 7 PM will be the next Planning Process meeting at the 'Sri- Community Center. Vouchers were signed. Communications: Konrad Schwenke presented a file of communications to the library which he has received as President.. The file will be maintained at the library for other Board members. Old Business:: 1. The Friends of the Library will take orders for T- shirts at a booth at the County Fair.. Washington Library Trustees Association helps supply the T-- shirts as money - raisers for in- dividual Friends groups. Vicki Lea - Shelton suggested that the Board give the Friends as much support as possible by going to annual, meetings, etc, The Board meets every 4th Monday« Konrad Schwenke suggested that Library Board members attend meetings of the Friends Board and that we have our meeting on the same day so that both meetings might be attended. The Board agreed to meet on the 4th Monday of August to coincide with the meeting of the Friends Board.. 2. Bev Lamb will call the Mayor to find out if he has selected new board members. New Business:. 1. The preliminary budget will be prepared by the next meeting and sent to Board members. 2. Vicki. Lea - Shelton asked what progress had been made on our computer selection. Bev Lamb indicated that the Jefferson County 0 . 7/27/'81 page 2 is also interested, and that she will work closely with them to avoid any duplications. Konrad Schwenke asked about possible ongoing costs in any setup; Bev Lamb suggested something basic with slow additions to come. Konrad Schwenke also asked about how to sell the idea to the community.: Bev Lamb will be attend- ing a workshop at the end of the month on microcomputers in public libraries, and hopes to find out answers to such questions. 3. New shelving was discussed as part of the budge+ request. 4. More money for grounds maintenance or possible maintenance by City Parks Department was also discussed as part of budget requests.
