HomeMy WebLinkAbout012682PORT TOWNSEND PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING -- January 26, 1982 Presents Konrad Schwencke, Vicki Lea - Shelton, John Marckworth, Laurie Stewart, Bev Lamb. Meeting called to order at 8:25pm. Minutes: Minutes of December 10, 1981, were approved as read by John Marckworth and will be published later. Librarian-'s Bev reported that the Friends of the Library Volunteers Report: are making a significant contribution to the workload. There are 18 volunteers that have accepted the responsi- bility of working on a regular basis. Committee Building maintenance and repair. The ceiling has been Reports: insulated. Rob Marean is the library's handyman and is available on call. He has made repairs on the roof to prevent leaks, and has made an insert to cover the fireplace when not in use. No building plans have been located in the city or county offices. Bev will contact the Carneige Foundation. It was agreed that a plan for the entire building should be a priority. Laurie Stewart will contact Peter McBurney and Rob Marean for a meeting in early February to evaluate the building, and for greater direction in developing a plan. Unfinished A new rope has been acquired for the flagpole and it Business: will be installed. City firemen check the fire extinguisher monthly. The need for industrial, insurance for volunteers has not been determined. Bev will check further. The 1981 expenditure summary should be available in February. New Election of offiers for 1982. Business: Konrad Schwencke re- elected Chairman. Cheryl Van Dyke re- elected Secretary. The board will address setting goals for the library beginning in February. To be considered: Wants /wishes, problems, long -range goals, priorities, budget, program- ming, volunteers, physical plant, collection development, and personnel requirements.
