HomeMy WebLinkAbout062486PORT TOWNSEND LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES JUNE 24, 1486 Present: Pete Kaiser, Sue Sidle, Laurie Stewsrt, Cheryl Van Dyke, Beverly Lamb The meeting was called to order at 7:40 & vouchers were signed. Gary Sweatpresented a proposal from the Uptown Business District merchants to sponsor a directory mural downtown to direct traffic to uptown. The Board moved to support the concept and referred Mr. Sweat to the Friends of the Library for funding. Librarian's Report: Arcade games have been banned from the computer. Computer use is increasing among children and we are increasing our public domain adventure game collection. The librarian submitted a draft of the building program. A committee will meet Tuesday June 8th at 7 :00 P.M. to complete the document. A motion was passed to pullup the survey stakes, leaving permanent markers in place. A motion was passed to pay an overdue bill from Angeles Computers. A motion was passed which changes the bylaws pertinent to trustee qualifications. Trustees must be 18 years or older, residents of the city of PT, may not work at the library as paid staff or unpaid volunteers. Trustee absence from 3 successive meetings will constitute automatic resignation. It was moved and passed that we send letters to all members of the Library Improvement committee informing them of the current board vacancy. The LIbrary Improvement Committee's recommendation that we hire Tonkin /NIshioka /Koch & Lewis /Nelson to develop our feasibility study was accepted. It was moved and passed that we begin negotiations with the firm(s). The children's department no longer has room for the piano. Bev will investigate storing it somewhere, preferably a public place. Laurie will solicit bids for painting the ramp.
