HomeMy WebLinkAbout2205 Supplemental Budget AppropriationsORDINANCE NO. 2205 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $6,100 TO TH~ CURRENT EXPENSE FIJND, $6,500 TO THE STREET FUND, AND $7,300 TO THE STORM AND SURFACE WATER FUND, MAKING FINDINGS AND DECLARING AN ENR~GENCY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, UPON REVIEW OF THE 1990 BUDGET FOR THE CITY, MAKES THE FOLLOWING FINDINGS: A) On June 5, 1990, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 90-52 setting forth a process for consideration of an Urban Waterfront Plan which has imposed additional demands on the staff of the Planning and Building Department. B) A greater than anticipated number of proposed subdivisions and other large residential developments has increased the street design and storm water drainage system review responsibilities of the Public Works Department, as well as heighten the need to consider improved standards and procedures. C) Present staff in the Street Department is not able to remain current with the maintenance of deteriorating streets in the city. D) The foregoing emergencies were not reasonably foreseeable at the time of filing of the city's preliminary budget and requires expenditure of money not provided for in the annual budget for 1990. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, IN REGULAR SESSION ASSEMBLED, DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1) The sum of SIX THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($6,100.00) is here and hereby appropriated as a supplement to the 1990 budget for the City of Port Townsend in the Current Expense Fund for an additional Administrative Assistant in the Planning and Building Department to be funded from additional building permit fees as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto as though fully set forth herein. Section 2) The sum of SIX THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($6,500.00) is here and hereby appropriated as a supplement to the 1990 budget for the City of Port Townsend in the Street Fund for an additional Maintenance Worker in the Street Department to be funded from additional retail sales tax as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto as though fully set forth herein. Section .3) The sum of SEVEN THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,300.00) is here and hereby appropriated as a supplement to the 1990 budget for the City of Port Townsend in the Storm and Surface Water Fund for an additional Administrative Assistant to be funded from unappropriated beginning fund balance as set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto as though fully set forth herein. Section. 4) There is here and hereby found and declared to be an emergency requiring the foregoing appropriation to the 1990 budget for the City of Port Townsend. section. 5) This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage, approval, and publication in the form and manner provided by law. READ for the first time September 4, 1990. Read for the second and third times, passed by the Council and approved by the Mayor on Septe~ber 18, 1990.
