A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
TOWNSEND,WASHINGTON,AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION IN THE
United States Agency for International Development(USAID and
INTERNATIONAL CITY/COUNTY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION (ICMA)
CityLinks PROGRAM
WHEREAS,the International City/County Management Association(ICMA) in
cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development(USAID) and
other international agencies established an international partnerships program called the
CityLinks Program; and
WHEREAS,through ICMA's CityLinks Program, selected local governments
exhibiting a record of exceptional management in the U.S. have been invited to share
their local government expertise and successes with communities in developing countries
that are making the transition to democracy; to provide technical assistance in improving
professional and ethical municipal management;to support participatory and inclusive
government; to improve delivery of public services; and to increase access to decent and
affordable housing; and
WHEREAS,the City of Port Townsend, Washington,has been chosen to
participate in this extraordinary program to represent the United States by being matched
with the coastal municipalities of Porec, Rovinj, and Umag, Croatia.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to participate in the
ICMA/USAID CityLinks Program.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this seventh day of September 2004.
