RESOLUTION NO. 06-034
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND,
WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND
EXECUTE A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH PARAMETRIX, INC.
TO PREPARE A RECLAMATION PLAN FOR THE CAPE GEORGE SURFACE MINE
AND A SHORELINE STABILIZATION PLAN FOR THE AREA OF THE GAINES
STREET PUMP STATION
WHEREAS, the City has a gravel pit in the Cape George area that is no longer
in operation; and
WHEREAS, The State of Washington Department of Natural Resources has
required the City to develop and implement a reclamation plan for the surface mine; and
WHEREAS, the shoreline adjacent to the Gaines Street Pump Station is
eroding; and
WHEREAS, this erosion poses a threat to the street and the pump station; and
WHEREAS, this requires a stabilization plan and the permits to carry out the
plan; and
WHEREAS, such services require specialized expertise and training; and
WHEREAS, the City does not have sufficient staff or expertise to conduct such
services itself;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of
Port Townsend that the City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and execute a
professional services agreement with Parametrix, Inc. to develop and implement a
Surface Mine Reclamation Plan and a Shoreline Stabilization Plan and to prepare the
permits necessary to implement the plans.
ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend at a regular
meeting thereof, held this 20th day of November, 2006. ,{ . ~
